Evening Primrose

(Oenothera biennis)

Known for its skincare benefits, evening primrose is bold and beautiful.  That sweet scent can only be described as summer. So delicate. So subtle. But totally enticing.

Fun facts

  • It is full of GLA fatty acids, responsible for healing and hormone balancing (Forage,  Wild Plants to Gather, Cook and Eat, by Liz Knight, p - 167)

  • Every time I picked a plant while walking past, there were little bugs inside - as is visible on the photos above. Proof that it's great for biodiversity!

Observations

  • I have written a blog on my journey with evening primrose, please click here to read.

Uses

  • You can eat the seeds - add them to salad or soup, etc.

  • The petals also have a sweet taste, I add them to salads.
