Wild garlic - or ramsons - are one of the first plants people think of when you say 'foraging'. For good reason, they're delicious and very potent, easily used as a substitute for shop bought garlic. But also elusive - you have to know where to look!

The Latin name means 'bear garlic' as bears like to eat the bulbs!

Apparently the leaves used to be used in Scotland to repel midges! [1]
Uses

They can essentially be used to replace garlic! Flowers and leaves are edible.

Can be chopped into salads (very thinly), or cooked with other vegetables soups or stews. My personal favourite is to fry it up with some mushrooms.

Can be used to alleviate coughs and colds.
